Canon PIXMA G3010 Error Codes

Step-by-step help for Canon PIXMA G3010 Error Codes.

Canon PIXMA G3010 error codes

When your Canon PIXMA G3010 detects a problem, an error code may appear on the printer’s LCD. For some problems, Canon also displays a support code and message on your computer.

The code helps identify what has gone wrong and what you should check next.

How to read a G3010 error

Look at the code shown on the printer’s LCD first.

Canon uses codes such as E02, E03 and E04 for some errors. Other printer faults may appear as codes beginning with P.

If a support code also appears on your computer, make a note of it. The support code provides more specific information about the problem.

E02 — Paper or printing issue

E02 can appear when the printer is out of paper. Canon also associates E02 with some manual duplex and printing conditions.

If the printer has run out of paper, load paper correctly and follow the instructions shown on your computer.

E03 — Paper jam

E03 corresponds to support code 1300 and indicates that paper is jammed.

Stop printing and check the printer for jammed paper. Remove the paper carefully according to Canon’s instructions before trying to print again.

E04 — Print head not installed correctly

E04 corresponds to support code 1470.

Canon identifies this error when the print head, which Canon also refers to as the cartridge in its documentation, is not installed correctly.

Check that the print head is properly installed before trying again.

E05 — Print head cannot be recognized

E05 can correspond to support codes 1403, 1430, 1471 or 1476.

This means the printer cannot correctly recognize the print head. Check that it is installed correctly. If the error remains, use Canon’s model-specific instructions for the support code displayed on your computer.

E08 — Ink absorber almost full

E08 can correspond to support codes 1700 or 1701 and indicates that the ink absorber is almost full.

This is different from P07, which indicates that the ink absorber has reached the full condition.

E60 — Check the ink level

E60 corresponds to support code 1640.

Canon states that the remaining ink level in one of the ink tanks may have reached the lower limit line marked on the tank.

Check the ink levels before continuing.

E62 — Scanning error

E62 indicates that an unexpected error occurred while scanning.

Canon instructs users to clear the error using the Black or Color button, change the scanning settings if necessary, and try the operation again.

P02 — Printer error

P02 corresponds to support code 5100.

Canon’s support information for 5100 instructs users to stop printing and turn the printer off. Check whether jammed paper or another object is preventing the cartridge holder from moving, and check that the cartridge is installed correctly.

Turn the printer back on after checking it. If the error remains, Canon recommends service or repair.

P07 — Ink absorber full

P07 corresponds to support codes 5B00 or 5B01.

This indicates that the ink absorber has become full. The absorber collects ink used during operations such as print-head cleaning.

This condition requires service. Do not attempt to replace the ink absorber yourself.

P08 — Printer error

P08 can correspond to support codes 5200, 5205 or 5206.

This indicates a printer problem. Because several support codes can correspond to P08, check the support code shown on your computer and follow Canon’s instructions for that specific code.

Other P error codes

Canon also lists several other printer-error codes, including P03, P05, P06, P09, P10, P22, P26, P27, P28 and P29.

For these errors, note the support code shown on the computer. Canon’s instructions for many of these faults involve turning the printer off, unplugging it, reconnecting it and turning it back on. If the error remains, service may be required.

P10 is treated differently by Canon and is associated with support codes B202, B203, B204 or B205; Canon directs users toward repair if this condition occurs.

Don’t guess from the error code

Some LCD error codes can correspond to more than one support code.

For that reason, if your computer displays a support code as well, use that more specific number when checking Canon’s documentation.

HelpMyTechs does not recommend resetting, bypassing or disabling printer error systems when Canon specifies inspection or service.

Still seeing the error?

Turn the printer off and restart it only when that is appropriate for the error you are troubleshooting.

If the same error returns, note both the LCD error code and any support code displayed on your computer. Use Canon’s official support resources below for the exact instructions for that code.
