Step-by-step help for Epson EcoTank L3250 Scanner Problems.
Epson EcoTank L3250 scanner not working
If your Epson EcoTank L3250 can print but cannot scan, the problem may be related to the scanning software, USB or network connection, or the scanner configuration on your computer.
Start with the basic checks below before reinstalling the software.
Start with these quick checks
- Make sure the Epson L3250 is turned on.
- Check that the printer is not showing an error.
- Restart the printer and computer.
- If using Wi-Fi, check that the printer is connected to your network.
- If using USB, check the cable connection.
- Open Epson Scan 2 and try scanning again.
If printing works but scanning does not, focus on the scanner connection and Epson scanning software rather than the printing system.
Epson Scan 2 will not start
If Epson Scan 2 does not open or cannot communicate with the L3250:
- Make sure the printer is turned on.
- Check the USB or network connection.
- Make sure the correct Epson product is selected.
- Wake the computer if it is in sleep or standby mode.
- Close Epson Scan 2 and open it again.
- Restart the printer and computer.
If you recently upgraded your computer’s operating system, the Epson scanning software may need to be reinstalled.
Check Epson Scan 2 Utility
Epson Scan 2 Utility can be used to check or reset the scanner configuration.
Open Epson Scan 2 Utility on your computer and make sure the Epson L3250 is selected.
If necessary, use the reset option in Epson Scan 2 Utility and then try scanning again.
If the L3250 is being used over a network, check that the correct network scanner is selected.
Epson L3250 won’t scan over Wi-Fi
First make sure the printer and computer are connected to the same network.
Then:
- Restart the printer and computer.
- Check the L3250’s Wi-Fi connection.
- Move the printer closer to the wireless router if the connection is weak.
- Check the scanner connection in Epson Scan 2 Utility.
- Restart Epson Scan 2.
- Try scanning again.
Firewall or security software can sometimes prevent scanning software from discovering a network printer.
If the printer can print over Wi-Fi but Epson Scan 2 cannot find the scanner, check the network scanner configuration in Epson Scan 2 Utility.
Epson L3250 won’t scan over USB
If you use a USB connection:
- Make sure the USB cable is securely connected to the printer and computer.
- Disconnect and reconnect the cable.
- Try another USB port.
- If you are using a USB hub, try connecting the L3250 directly to the computer.
- Restart Epson Scan 2 and try again.
If printing works through USB but scanning does not, check Epson Scan 2 and the installed scanning software before replacing the cable.
Scanning stops or takes too long
High-resolution scans create much larger files and require more computer resources.
If scanning stops or takes unusually long:
- Try a lower scanning resolution.
- Make sure your computer has sufficient free storage space.
- Close unnecessary applications.
- Restart the scanning software.
- If scanning over Wi-Fi, check the network connection.
For ordinary documents, very high scanning resolutions are usually unnecessary.
Scanner disappeared after a computer update
If scanning stopped after upgrading or updating your operating system, check Epson’s current software for the L3250.
Epson recommends reinstalling the scanning software if the operating system was upgraded without reinstalling Epson Scan 2.
Use Epson’s official software rather than downloading scanner drivers from third-party driver websites.
Reset or reinstall the scanning software
If the connection looks correct but Epson Scan 2 still does not work, try resetting the scanner settings using Epson Scan 2 Utility.
If resetting does not solve the problem, uninstall and reinstall the Epson scanning software using the current software available for your operating system.
Restart the computer after installation and test the scanner again.
Scanner works from one device but not another
If the L3250 scans successfully from another computer or mobile device, the scanner itself is probably functioning.
Focus troubleshooting on the device that cannot scan:
- Its Epson software installation
- Scanner selection
- Network connection
- USB connection
- Firewall or security settings
This can help avoid unnecessary changes to a printer that is already working correctly.
Still cannot scan?
If the L3250 still cannot scan, first determine whether the problem occurs over both Wi-Fi and USB or only one connection type.
If possible, testing another connection or another computer can help separate a printer problem from a software or network problem.
